First AMD Fusion part codenamed Swift, set for 2H2009
Quickly after the acquisition of ATI AMD started talking about Fusion, a concept that would arrive in the second half of 2008 and lead to CPUs that feature integrated graphics. Fast forward to AMD's December analyst meeting and the Fusion project, although being delayed, is starting to take shape and is already aimed at giving birth to the Accelerated Processing Unit or APU.

The first AMD SPU is codenamed Swift and will be a silicon chip built using the 45nm process. This Swift APU will feature a number of 'Stars' cores, one GPU core and a DDR3 memory controller and will be a or the central part of the 'Shrike' mobile platform which will follow the 'Puma' platform. The Swift is set to be introduced in the second part of 2009.
