Samsung still promises hybrid HD player for this year
Already delayed at least two times Samsung's BD-UP5000, its first hybrid high-definition player that supports both Toshiba's HD DVD and Sony's Blu-ray is still claimed to see the light of day in 2007. Although stores and 'undisclosed sources' point to a Q1 release for the BD-UP5000 Samsung has recently stated that it still plans to ship in before the end of the year and at a lower price too.
Previously at $999 the player is now set to hit the stores at $799 and give its main competitor, the LG BH100, a run for its money ($1000 in this case).
