Still trailing behind HP, Dell has proudly announced some strong results for the third quarter of its 2008 fiscal year. In this past quarter Dell's revenues we're a record $15.6 billion, up 9% on year while operating income increased by 13% percent to $829 million. To break down the numbers, for the Americas Business revenue was up 7%, in Asia-Pacific and Japan it saw a 18% increase while in Europe it went up 14%.
“We embarked this year on a long-term strategy to re-ignite growth and our Q3 results indicate we’re making solid progress through investments in five key business priorities – consumer, emerging countries, notebooks, enterprise and small/medium business,” said Michael Dell, chairman and CEO.
Also, what Mr. Dell now has is about $1 billion in cash from the company's operations, money which will be partially used to resume the programmed share repurchase program in early December. read more
