Internet advertising reaches new all-time high in Q3
With internet traffic on an ever-increasing trend it was only natural that online advertising would pick up at a similar pace and the latest quarterly results confirm it. As calculated by the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), internet advertising revenue in Q3 of 2007 exceeded $5.2 billion this being a new all-time high. Q3's revenue increased by 25.3% or $1.1 billion compared to the same quarter of 2006 and went up a steady 3% over Q2 2007.

For the first nine months of 2007 revenue topped $15.2 billion, up almost 26% over the $12.1 billion reported in the same period of 2006.

“Internet advertising revenues are on an annual run-rate exceeding $20 billion, further demonstrating the industry has truly come into its own,” said Peter Petrusky, director, Entertainment, Media & Communications Practice, PricewaterhouseCoopers. “The emergence of new platforms, including broadband video, rich Internet applications, mobile, and social media promise to deliver new benefits for consumers, and create exciting new venues for marketers to realize value in digital media.” Good times.
