More optical drives is what Samsung wants and that's what it will get as it can release its own drives. As a result the company has now unveiled the TruDirect SE-S204S, a DVD writer that doesn't really know what a hard drive is. To explain this attitude we have to tell you that the drive can be connected to a PC which in term is connected to a camcorder, digital camera or Web cam and can burn video content from them without using the hard drive.
“As a global technology innovator, Samsung has always been at the forefront of optical disc drive technology and further pushes the technology envelope with the introduction of the new TruDirect SE-S204S,” said Richard Aguilera, western regional sales manager, Samsung Storage Division. “The TruDirect SE-S204S enables users to easily and efficiently turn their digital videos or photos into DVDs in the easiest and fastest way ever.”
The burning speeds of the new drive are 20X for DVD+R/-R, 16X for DVD+R DL, 12X for DVD-R DL and 12X for DVD-RAM. The TruDirect SE-S204S is already hitting US stores and costs about $160. read more
