ASRock tries high-end game with new Intel P35 motherboard
ASRock is currently pretty well-known for its low-cost motherboards but, as the times are changing so must the focus and that is why the manufacturer has now introduced a "high-end" board. Leaving aside the Intel P35 isn't a high-end product argument, the new 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ is actually a pretty feature-rich board that is powered by an up-to-date and well-performing chipset.
ASRock's new motherboard comes with support for the 65 and 45nm-built Core 2 Duo and Quad CPUs, 1600 MHz FSB processors and CrossFire via two PCI-Express slots - one x16 and one x4. The board also comes with both DDR2 and DDR3 memory - 4 slots supporting DDR2 1066 and 2 slots able to carry DDR3 at 1333 MHz plus all solid capacitors, six SATA 3.0 Gbps connectors and a Gigabit Ethernet port.
With the release of the 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ ASRock is hoping to raise the ASP (average selling price) of its boards and also increase its shipment. More high(er-end boards are set to be unveiled soon but, as the current plan states, the company will remain focused on low-cost products.
