MSI to jump into the low-cost PC boat
Low-cost seems to one fairly promising trend and 2008 will see more manufacturer try and sell lots of cheap computer thingies whether they are laptops of desktops. MSI is that latest big name to show its interest in the low-cost segment and, for starters it is planning to build and sell cheap PCs built around Intel's Diamondville processor and the Shelton 08 platform.
MSI's desire is to begin selling such PCs as soon as June at prices just over $300. For that kind of money people will be getting a Linux-powered system with a low-power Intel CPU and a 7-inch LCD screen, just like the one Asus has put into the Eee PC. Just like Asus, MSI is also set to introduce new versions of its low-cost PC with Windows XP pre-loaded but there's no time line as to when they will be released. MSI's move towards low-cost is rather caution though so things could change to some extend in time for the official unveiling.
