SIM2 and Dolby start work on HDR-enabled LCD panels
Home theatre expert SIM2 Multimedia and Dolby Laboratories have announced that their are now working on developing a new prototype high dynamic range (HDR)-enabled LCD flat screen. Using Dolby’s new LED local dimming technology which hopefully isn't too similar to Samsung's own tech (we don't really need a new patent suit) the new panels provide some dramatically enhanced contrast ratios thus enabling picture quality that almost matches real-world visual perception of depth, detail, and color.

While Dolby comes with the technology SIM2 is set to offer the manufacturing reference designs. There's currently no estimate as to when we'll see TVs or any kind of screens using SIM2 and Dolby's panels.
